Mind-Motion-Motivation

Helping you get your mind, body, and soul ready for surgery for a smoother journey to healing.

Head into surgery with the self-care tools you need to come out stronger and recover quicker.

Preparing for hip, knee, or shoulder surgery?

If you’re facing surgery, you’ve probably already been in pain and discomfort for quite some time. You might even be avoiding it altogether because you’re anxious about how you’re going to recover after putting your body through even more trauma.

Before heading into my double hip replacement, I’d been on crutches for two years, and I couldn’t put it off any longer. I know just how terrifying it can feel to put your life in a surgeon’s hands, and I know how important it is to prepare your whole being before heading into such a major surgery.

The first 12 months are crucial

Did you know that what you get your body to achieve in the first 12 months after surgery is as good as it gets?

That’s a scary fact.

And that’s why it’s so important to have a plan in place that will help you recover quickly and smoothly. If you have any lingering problems after those first 12 months – they’re probably not going to go away, and they won’t be covered by your insurance.

Preparing you for a smoother journey to healing

Healing after surgery isn’t an easy journey. You’re only getting a few hours of sleep at a time, you're exhausted mentally and physically, and you’re trying to process the trauma your body has just been through.

It’s so important you’re prepared to get yourself through this stage, and that’s why I’ve created the ME-3 Model.

Through my own experience, I’ve seen just how powerful taking care of the mental and emotional aspects of your recovery can be. We need to feel safe mentally, emotionally and physically to truly heal.

The ME-3 Model has been crafted to guide you through your hip, knee, or shoulder surgery recovery. We’ll focus on 3 key areas using tailored goals and techniques to fit your unique needs:

Mindset

Cultivating a positive outlook and mental resilience so you can embrace surgery with confidence and look forward to enjoying life without pain.

Motivation

Keeping your energy and spirits high throughout the process so you can stay focused on recovery and get back to activities you love.

Movement

Promoting gentle, purposeful activity to ensure a smoother recovery and a quicker return to enjoying life with loved ones.

The programme has been developed to help you through the three months leading up to your surgery and three months after.

I’ll be there to create a cocoon around you, so you feel safe and supported and have an empowering experience filled with gratitude and renewal.

Connecting your Mind and Body

The ME-3 Model is the first programme of its kind that provides hip, knee, and shoulder surgery patients with all-encompassing support to ensure the best recovery possible.

Surgeons are fantastic, and so are the physios we see afterwards. The problem is, they don’t help us with the awareness of our bodies. They don’t help that important connection with the mind and body that can make such a difference to our recovery.

I’m here to help you show up for yourself - fully. Not just to get through your surgery, but so you can learn to connect with an inner-knowing that will put you on a long-term path to healing and regain your life.

Meet Carolyn

Hey, I’m Carolyn.

Double hip replacement warrior and your guide to holistic self-care and healing.

My own 18-month journey after surgery has taught me just how important it is to take care of your mind and soul to truly recover – not just your body.

Through regular breathwork, magnets, goal mapping, and gratitude, I was able to help my body heal quicker, and I surpassed my surgeon’s expectations. During my recovery, I realised that no one is offering this all-encompassing holistic support to patients, so I wanted to change that.

Before surgery you’re going to be feeling anxious, possibly terrified. I’m here to help you get into the best possible mindset so you feel fully prepared before handing yourself over to the surgeons.

After surgery? You’re going to be in pain for sure. You’ll feel exhausted, battered and bruised – it’s just as much of a shock to your body as a car crash would be. To put it into perspective, it took me four months after my surgery just to be able to bend over and tie a shoe!

You need to be mentally prepared to get yourself through that shock and exhaustion. And while you’re feeling pretty ugly – you’ve got to show that gratitude to your body and bring yourself back to that safe space within yourself.

My ME-3 Model is to help you get through all of that and come out feeling resilient and equipped with tools you’ll use for the rest of your life.
